Creating Podcasts in Your Classroom

Back in September, we blogged about Listening to Podcasts in Class. The next step you might want to consider is creating podcasts in your class! Creating podcasts gives your students voice and another option for creating in a way that was inconceivable without technology.

We have two HyperDocs for you to peruse in regards to this. Each of these you could make a copy of and edit it to best fit your students. First is a HyperDoc about introducing podcasts in your class. It involves thinking about what a podcast is, how it sounds and is set up, and recording your voice practicing audio.

The next HyperDoc is the 6 step process involved in creating podcasts. It has several linked out resources, including podcasts to listen to, questions to ask in interviews, step by step guides for editing audio, and options for recording. Again, this should be edited to best fit your students. In a 5th grade class, you might want creating podcasts to only be a 3 or 4 step process and not a 6 step! In addition, you might want to change the first question to your driving question for your project, instead of giving students free reign to choose any topic to make their podcasts on.

As you head into a summer where I hope you relax and recharge and spend some time learning, dive into these podcast resources and see if it is something you could incorporate next year!
